  1. I only like ankle boots with my trousers. That creates a nice line and allows for comfort.

Never have liked the low boots with a skirt or dress trend. Looks clunky and frumpy. Agree about knee length boots for dresses or skirts.

  2. I have a lot of trouble with shoes fitting properly because of a foot injury…so if they fit…I buy two pair. I quit letting my shoes live at the door when I grabbed a pair of shoes…one navy, one black. Spent the day like that…so embarrassed. Came home from that debacle and made a place for shoes in my room with those pair deliberately very separated. There's lots of reasons to check before you leave for the day. Great video!

  3. The old saying, wear shoes the same colour as your hemline, is still a good one, with the exception of nude I’d say because it can go with any hemline and is like a continuation of the leg. Wouldn’t you agree Marie-Anne? I agree with you about ankle boots. I had a ballet teacher (back in the ‘70’s) who always wore midi skirts with knee high boots and always looked elegant. That was the start of my love of midi skirts. I can’t wear boots unfortunately because I have a high arch and find it difficult to get my feet into them. 😔

  4. Ankle boots are great—you have to know how to style them. I can't believe all the negative comments below. If you take the time to plan your outfit and try on shoes and boots so you know what works, your boots will look great.

  5. Bonjour Marie Anne this is unrelated to ankle boots, but you know the series you did on shape, petite pear shape etc. I have petite pear but also some curvature of the spine nobody covers that body shape scoliosis, would you accept the challenge? Kind regards and best wishes again from Jackie (Jacqueline) N E England x

  6. Great video, Marie-Anne!! I love the shorter format and the way you both answered a viewer’s question and gave all of us several practical suggestions! (And showed us real life visual examples of you modeling the same basic outfit several ways!) The way I solved the shoe coordination problem so far is to make sure all my outfits will go with black or brown shoes and tights. I also try them on in front of a full length mirror when I first get a new outfit or shoes so I know what does or doesn’t work ahead of time. That way I can keep my daily black and brown office shoe options by the front door and always know I’ll walk out the door with a head-to-toe coordinated look! It also simplifies my wardrobe and decision making. Any special shoes stay in the closet but I still keep to neutral colors. Pop of color shoes are fun and I love seeing them on other people, but I just find the simpler approach easier for me. 👠👠👢👢😁

  7. Shoes are easily my biggest investment. I love them and think they determine the tone of an outfit ( ie dressy, casual, funky, whimsical, professional). If I left them at the front door, there would be no room to get out the door!

  8. Thank you for the wonderful video yes I go with full length boots as it is now fall and soon will be very snowy sometimes I carry my heels in my backpack because I am wearing waterproof sneakers buy Converse and to have to switch when I get to a function or church

  9. I love the sound of the car's tires screeching away and especially  your reaction to it. I would like to ask you to do a video on how better quality shoes, belts and purses can elevate an inexpensive outfit. Thank you Marie-Anne.

  10. Good day Marie-Anne soooo good to see you this morning, Friday 4th October…. Have to say I love my ankle boots, and own ten pairs in black navy brown and burgundy, wear them all the year around, probably not a good idea but dont possess a dress at all…. Have a wonderful Weekend paula x

  11. I’m also one to only wear ankle boots with pants, never dresses/skirts. What do you suggest if one is already tall…do you go with a flat shoe or a lower or maybe chunkier heel?? Depending where I’m going, i feel like a stiletto heel of any height is too much, so I wear flats, but wind up feeling dumpy bc my shoes don’t go with the line of my outfit…hope that makes sense?

  12. This is an excellent response to this long-standing trend. I only wear ankle boots with jeans or pants; they cut the leg in a most unflattering way when worn with skirts or dresses, regardless of the color of your tights.

  13. Thank you for this, Marie-Anne. My view is that ankle boots look best on a long leg with skinny pants. The boot anchors the look. Or, with a short skirt. They are not flattering on shorter women or on heavier legs.

  14. Yes I see some women wearing pretty dresses and the whole outfit is killed of with ankle boots …..I think ankle boots are meant to be worn with slacks or jeans ……this is just my opinion

  15. I am Asian, and yes we keep most shoes at the front door. The exceptions are the evening shoes. Not a problem keeping a full length mirror by the front door. 👍
I live in ankle boots with jeans or pants all winter, love them.

  16. My shoes are at my front door to which I stuck a full length mirror.
I also do own a pair of ankle boots with a v-shaped front which are perfect for skirts. Highly recommend getting a pair of those

  17. When I was 14 my best friend's mum made us stand in front of the mirror and check how we looked from the back. She told us how so many people don't look at themselves from this angle and especially don't notice that the back view of down at heel and dirty looking shoes are a crime against fashion. This was over 50 years ago and it's a lesson I've never forgotten – I always check how my footwear looks from the back!

  18. I agree. Personally, I don’t like to see ankle boots withe skirts or dresses. They look nice with pants as long as no skin is showing… just my opinion. Thanks for sharing your insights!👏🏻🇺🇸❤️🌏👏🏻
